The steel industry contributes 7% of the world’s CO2 emissions, 14.2% of UK greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from manufacturing and 2.4% of total UK greenhouse gas emissions. GHG emissions need to be significantly reduced to meet the UK’s net-zero targets by 2050.
